Hello and Welcome, everyone!

Hello and Welcome everyone everyone to The Garioch Details.  Before we go any further, you are probably thinking 'The Garioch Details, what's that?'  If you're from the area, you may understand the joke, but for those who don't hail from the West Aberdeenshire region, I will say that Garioch is actually pronounced 'Geerie' not 'Gari-ock' or 'Gari-otch'.

 That out of the way, what is this blog? This blog is about us talking about our own experiences, i.e. being visually impaired. But who are we?

 I, (the person currently at the keyboard) am Jay Wakefield.  I've had a few blogs in the past, chronicling my time as a computer software development student, and beyond.  I am partially sighted (Sight Impaired as the RNIB would have me call it), have Autism and a myriad of other mental health conditions, which has made adult life, shall we say interesting?  I recently moved in with my friend Victoria to start a new life in the Garioch town of Inverurie after having spent a good chunk of my adulthood in Aberdeen.

Now on to Victoria.  Victoria is completely blind and recently gained a diagnosis of ADHD in her late twenties.  She enjoys reading and writing, broadcasting a show about musicals on online radio, and is also a qualified level 2 reiki practitioner.

We thought we would like to share our experiences with the world as we have come up against many challenges, and we thought it would be time to let our voices be heard.

In this blog, we will share our experiences of being neurodivergent flatmates living in Inverurie together and some of the experiences we come up against.  We each will write articles on this blog under our own names, so you'll hear about anything from retro computers and technology, to stories, musicals and spirituality, as well as how our disabilities affect us in day to day life.
